How Often Should I Clean My Vent? Return to top of page

This depends on many factors: how much laundry you do, if you have pets that shed hair, if your dryer vent is long and/or has several turns in it, etc. As a general rule of thumb, you should have the vent cleaned at least every year.

Why Should I Worry About My Dryer Vent? Return to top of page

A dirty or badly installed vent can be a serious fire hazard. It also costs you time and money. If your vent is clogged with lint or otherwise obstructed (e.g. a birds nest or crushed vent) your clothes will take longer to dry and your dryer can overheat. If your laundry takes more than one cycle to dry your clothes it’s time to act – your vent needs servicing.

I Clean My Lint Screen each time I use the dryer. Doesn’t that keep the lint from going into the vent?
Return to top of page

No. Lint is finer than the human hair. More than 20% gets by the lint screen with each dryer load.

My Dryer is over 10 years old, could the drying just be slowing down because it’s tired and worn out?
Return to top of page

Dryers are very simple machines in their design and make-up. There are things that wear out, such as seals in the front and back of the drum, and bearings in the rollers. With proper maintenance and regular lint removal from venting the dryer should dry in 30- 45 minutes, even when it’s 15-20 years old.

Do You Install New Dryer Vents? Return to top of page

Yes. A lot of our customers require this service. We often encounter white plastic or vinyl venting which should definitely be replaced. In other cases the venting is blocked off causing the dryer vent to exhaust the hot, moist air somewhere in the house.

Our prices are very affordable. For competitive reasons we ask that you please call for a quote.

Yes. If two or more people coordinate scheduling together in the same day and in the same neighborhood we are happy to offer you a discount.

If you live in a condo or housing development we are able to offer great rates if the whole complex decides to have the vents serviced. This is often best coordinated through the homeowner’s association or condo’s management agency.
